HONG KONG – Hong Kong reported one new imported COVID-19 case on Wednesday, pushing the city’s tally to 11,980.
The new patient was a 17-year-old teenager who flew to the city from Saudi Arabia, according to a statement issued by the Centre for Health Protection.
A total of 27 cases have been reported in the past 14 days and all of them are imported cases

She developed symptoms on Tuesday, the CHP added.

A total of 25 patients are currently hospitalized in eight public hospitals and the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, including two in serious condition, according to the Hospital Authority.

Starting from Thursday, the government will roll out the walk-in service for people aged 70 and above to receive COIVD-19 shots. Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip Tak-kuen said there is no need for the elderly to queue up at the vaccination centers too early for a ticket.
"As same-day tickets will be distributed daily, it is not necessary for the elderly to queue up at a community vaccination center too early for a ticket," he said on Wednesday.
Elderly citizens aged 70 or above can collect a same-day ticket in person. Their family members or carers could also help to collect the ticket by presenting a copy of their identity cards for registration.
"We hope that this arrangement will provide the elderly with an additional option to receive vaccinations and prevent infection," Nip said.
On Wednesday, Nip also visited AXA Hong Kong and Macau (AXA), where some 360 people will receive a Sinovac or BioNTech vaccination in a two-day outreach vaccination service.

"We greatly welcome enterprises to join hands with the government in promoting the 'Early Vaccination for All' campaign and encourage their employees to support the vaccination program," Nip said.
"I hope that people who get vaccinated will also encourage their families and friends to receive vaccinations so that we can work together to build an immune barrier in Hong Kong," Nip added.
As of Tuesday, nearly 3.1 million people in Hong Kong have taken at least the first coronavirus vaccine dose, accounting for 45.6 percent of people aged 12 and above. Among them, about 2.3 million have been fully vaccinated, the government said.
