HONG KONG – Hong Kong reported 10 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including four local infections, bringing the tally of confirmed cases to 11,419.

In a media briefing, Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the Centre for Heath Protection communicable disease branch, said there was one untraceable local case while fewer than 10 tested preliminarily positive.     

The lone untraceable local case involved a 55-year-old male delivery worker from Hung Hom who delivered goods to 20 households during his infection period

She added that six infections were imported,  involving five travelers from India and one from Pakistan.

She added that more than 10 members of these households were considered as close contacts and had to be brought to the quarantine center.

The three other local cases included one close contact of a customer of Ursus Fitness, a gym in Sai Ying Pun that had an outbreak. 

Chuang said the Ursus cluster now had 151 patients, including eight staff members, 94 clients, and their 49 close contacts.

Mandatory testing would also be done at a library of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Hung Hom and at the Kowloon West Regional Police Headquarters along Argylle Street in Kowloon City after a case was detected in each of these places, Chuang said. 

According to the Hospital Authority, there were 212 COVID-19 patients being treated as of Wednesday in 19 public hospitals and the North Lantau Hospital Infection Center, including 10 patients in critical condition and eight in serious condition.
