HONG KONG – A signal failure near the Kennedy Town MTR station around noon on Wednesday disrupted train services on the Hong Kong Island Line.

Trains between the Kennedy Town and Chai Wan stations were delayed for up to 10 minutes before the signaling fault was repaired after 1 pm. Eyewitnesses reported long queues at bus stops at Kennedy Town and elsewhere along the Island Line.

“The signaling fault near Kennedy Town Station on the Island Line has been repaired. Train operations can now be safely resumed,” the MTR said in a post on its website at around 1:15 pm.

“Normal train service is gradually resuming,” it added.

As of 2 pm, train operations on the Island Line have returned to normal, according to the MTR.
