HONG KONG – Hong Kong reported three new imported COVID-19 cases from Cambodia and the United States on Sunday, bringing the overall tally in the financial hub to 11,987.

One of the patients – a 34-year-old woman from Cambodia – has stayed at Silka Seaview hotel in Yau Ma Tei upon her arrival in Hong Kong, said the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health in a statement.

A total of 28 cases have been reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of them imported

The remaining two patients – a 41-year-old woman from Cambodia and a 19-year-old woman from the United State – have been fully vaccinated with Sinovac and BioNTech vaccines, respectively, said the CHP. All three patients remained asymptomatic.

A total of 28 cases have been reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of them imported.

The CHP was notified of a confirmed case in the UK, which involved a 52-year-old woman from Hong Kong.

The woman, who lives at Lok Yuen on 24 College Road in Kowloon City, departed the city on July 15 to London via flight CX251. Her specimen collected three days later tested positive for COVID-19 and she remains asymptomatic.

The CHP is following up on the case with the UK health authorities and contact tracings are ongoing.

“As a prudent measure, the premises where she had resided during the incubation period will be put under a compulsory testing notice,” the CHP said.

Indonesian people vaccinated

On Sunday, a total of 266 Indonesian people received the Sinovac vaccine at a hotel in Causeway Bay through the government's outreach vaccination service.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong helped arrange the program. 

So far, more than 219,000 foreign domestic helpers have taken the first dose of vaccination, accounting for nearly 58 percent of the foreign domestic helper population in Hong Kong, according to Secretary for Labour and Welfare Law Chi-kwong

Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip Tak-kuen, while visiting Indonesian communities in the city, encouraged foreign domestic helpers who have not yet been vaccinated to do so as soon as possible. 

"Many Indonesians working in Hong Kong may need to take care of young children or elderly persons at their employers' residence. If those working at the homes of families with young children and unvaccinated elderly persons get vaccinated, it will help build a protective barrier in the families," he said.

So far, more than 219,000 foreign domestic helpers have taken the first dose of vaccination, accounting for nearly 58 percent of the foreign domestic helper population in Hong Kong, according to Secretary for Labour and Welfare Law Chi-kwong. 

As of Saturday evening, some 3.2 million Hong Kong people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, accounting for around 47.4 percent of the eligible population, while aound 2.4 million people have been fully vaccinated with two doses.
