The patient had gone to the US on Dec 21 on board flight CX844 and returned to Hong Kong on Dec 23. His specimen tested negative at the airport.

But on Sunday, the patient tested preliminarily positive for the virus at a Community Testing Center. He developed symptoms, including headache, runny nose, and cough, on the same day.

According to the patient, except from buying food in the community and going to a Community Testing Centre, he stayed at home and did not go out.

Healthcare workers visited around 90 households at the building but around 35 households did not answer the door. These may include some households undergoing quarantine or isolation while some units were possibly vacant, the government said.

The government reminded the members of the 35 households that did not answer the door to also undergo tests as soon as possible to eliminate the possible risk of the virus spreading in the community.
