HONG KONG – Hong Kong's track cycling star Sarah Lee Wai-sze qualified on Wednesday afternoon for the quarterfinals of the keirin event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Lee secured a quarterfinals slot after she finished first in her repechage race. She had ended up in third palce in her opening race.

Only the top two cyclists in the first-round heat and the repechage qualify automatically for the next round.

Lee’s teammate, Jessica Lee Hoi-yan, failed to qualify after she finished fourth in her opening and repechage race.

Sarah Lee won the bronze medal in the keirin during the London 2012 Olympics.
